Waste Water Odor and Heavy Metal Problems
Various
odoriferous gases like ammonia, mercaptans, sulfur dioxide,
hydrogen sulfide, and nitrogen dioxide could be generated from
common waste water and effluent streams. Unfortunately, this
results in pungent odors which are unacceptable to most parties
in addition to being a health risk. Furthermore, waste water
streams could also contain toxic heavy metals which could render
it hazardous and pigments which could promote the build up of
algae. This could result in complaints from the public as well
as employees and lead to OSHA and EPA fines.
The
Solution
WaterKlean™ Water Treatment Filtration Media
was specially developed to adsorb, neutralize, and encapsulate
many unpleasant odors found in waste water and effluent streams.
It will eliminate odoriferous gases like mercaptans,
formaldehyde, ammonia, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide,
hydrogen sulfide, VOC's, and many, many more. Furthermore,
WaterKlean™ will also remove a wide range of heavy metal and
other cations such as
Rb+, Li+,
K+, Cs+, NH4+,
Na+, Ag+, Cd+2,
Pb+2, Zn+2, Ba+2,
Sr+2, Cu+2, Ca+2,
Hg+2, Mg+2, Fe+2,
Co+3, Al+3, and Cr+3
under the
proper conditions.
How WaterKlean™ Works
WaterKlean™ Water Treatment Filtration Media is a natural
product that can be used to eliminate heavy metal contaminants
and odors from waste water and effluents instead of masking them
with fragrances. The molecular structure of WaterKlean™ is made
up of a lattice structure arranged to form a honeycomb framework
of billions of interconnecting channels. This gives WaterKlean™
a large surface area of 40 m2/g and a cation exchange capacity
of 1.85 meq/g. Furthermore, this product has a selective
affinity for specific cations.
WaterKlean™ works through a
process of ion exchange, absorption and adsorption. WaterKlean™
, which is negatively charged, draws in odoriferous gases and
metal cations like a strong magnet. Thereafter, it traps,
neutralizes, and encapsulates them without smelly cover-ups.
Regeneration of this product is also feasible.
Environmentally Friendly
WaterKlean™ Water Treatment
Filtration Media is non-toxic, safe, non-hazardous, natural,
non-scented, non-flammable, and non-caustic. It is an ideal
environmentally friendly solution for eliminating heavy metals
and odoriferous substances such as NH4+
without adding pollutants to the air employees breathe.
WaterKlean™ does not contain chemical additives and is
especially beneficial for those suffering from chemical
sensitivity.
Applications
WaterKlean™ Water
Treatment Filtration Media can be effectively used in the
following applications to eliminate cations and gases which
could cause waste water and effluents to be hazardous, toxic, or
odoriferous :
-
Industrial Waste Water and Effluents
-
Commercial Waste Water and Effluents
-
Municipal Waste Water
and Effluents
-
Agricultural Waste Water and Effluents
-
Swimming Pools
