This gives WaterKlean™ a large surface area of 40 m²/g and a cation exchange capacity of 1.85 meq/g.

WaterKlean™ works through a process of ion exchange, absorption and adsorption. WaterKlean™, which is negatively charged, draws in calcium ions, heavy metal cations, and odoriferous gases like a strong magnet. Thereafter, it traps, neutralizes, and encapsulates them. Regeneration of this product is also feasible.

This product should be thoroughly rinsed before using to remove any small filter media that may be present due to shipping. WaterKlean™ can be regenerated for reuse by passing a solution of 10% sodium chloride through it.

Disposal

The unused WaterKlean™ Water Softener Filter Media are non-hazardous and environmentally safe. However, this will change if it is exposed to hazardous or toxic substances. Used Smelleze™ should be disposed according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
